The MCAT is a long, hard exam in the United States. Anyone who wants to go to medical school there almost always has to take it. The letters stand for Medical College Admission Test (you will also see Admissions). It tests science, thinking, and how well you read, and schools use the score to decide who gets a place. It is not a medical licence and it does not make you a doctor; it is only the door you must pass through before medical school. Students in Taiwan who hope to study medicine in the US talk about the MCAT a lot. It is a US exam (some Canadian schools use it too), not the exam for medical school in Taiwan or in Britain.
