If a piece of work is masterly, it is done with great skill — as if a true master made it. A masterly performance is not just good; it is beautifully controlled. This is a slightly word. You see it in reviews more than in daily chat. Though actually, English also has masterful, and people mix the two. Older careful use said masterly = very skilled, and masterful = taking charge, even a bit . Many speakers now use masterful to mean “skilled” as well. If you want to praise the skill, masterly is the clearer word.
精湛的、高明的(指做法很出色,不是「愛管人」)
組成From Middle English maisterli: maister (master) + -li (the old form of -ly, making an adjective). Master itself comes from Old English mægester and Old French maistre, both from Latin magister (teacher, master), ultimately from a Proto-Indo-European word for “big.”
