If a thing is mass-market, it is made and sold for as many ordinary people as possible, not for a small special group. A mass-market paperback is the cheap book at the station shop. A mass-market phone is the one most people can buy, not the luxury model. Shops, ads, and business people use this a lot. It can sound a little , as if the thing were common and not “serious” — though actually it only says who the thing is for, not that it is bad. You can also hear the mass market as a noun, meaning that big crowd of ordinary buyers. The form usually sits in front of a noun and describes the product.
mass-market 用來說一樣東西是為最多一般人設計和販售的，而不是為少數有錢人或特定群體。常見的搭配是「a mass-market paperback」，也就是車站書店裡便宜的平裝書。這個詞聽起來有點瞧不起人，好像東西很普通，但它其實只在說明對象是誰，並不代表東西不好。它也可以當名詞，指那一大群一般買家。
