    Mart is a short word for a market or store, usually used as part of a shop's name rather than on its own, like 'Walmart,' 'K-Mart,' or a small neighborhood 'mini-mart.' You rarely hear someone say 'I'm going to the mart' by itself; it almost always shows up attached to another word.
