1. 1

A maple is a kind of tree with wide leaves that turn bright red, orange, or yellow in autumn. Some maple trees can be tapped, meaning a small hole is made in the trunk to collect sweet sap, which is boiled down into maple syrup - the sweet syrup people pour on . The maple leaf is also the symbol on Canada's flag.
