Mannishly is the adverb from : in a way. She dresses mannishly means her clothes look like a man’s clothes. She walks mannishly means her steps, her shoulders, her way of taking up space look like a man’s. It is used especially of women, and it carries the same extra feeling as — not automatically rude, but easy to hear as a comment, not just a fact, and often a cold one. You will not hear it often; people more often say “in a way,” or they just describe the clothes and stop there. Adding -ly does not wash the judgement out of the word.
一副男人樣地、男性化地
