組成The spelling looks like grove (“a small wood”), and that is not an accident: English speakers reshaped an older form mangrowe to look like grove (folk etymology). Mangrowe was probably borrowed from Spanish mangle / mangue (itself probably from an Arawak language such as Taíno, or a Cariban language) plus an ending we no longer know.
