The word works in two ways, and you will meet both.
First, it is the act of moving something with care — a car, a van, a trolley, a boat — often in a small or awkward space. “A lot of maneuvering” can mean a lot of backing up and turning before the thing is where you want it.
Second, people use it when nobody is moving an object at all. In business, in , in office life, maneuvering means clever moves to get what you want, sometimes in a slightly hidden or way. News writers are fond of “political maneuvering.” That second use can sound a little , as if someone is playing a game.
It can be a noun (the maneuvering took ten minutes) or the -ing form of the verb (she was maneuvering the truck).
