A man-hour is a way to measure work: how much one person can do in one hour. If a job takes forty man-hours, that might be one person for forty hours, or four people for ten hours each — the number is about the work, not about one man’s day. Building sites, factories, and project plans use it. Though actually, many workplaces now say person-hour, because man was meant as “human,” but it sounds as if only men work. Same idea, kinder word. It is planning language, not chat. It is also not the same as “working hours” meaning nine-to-five.
man-hour 是衡量工作量的單位，指一個人一小時能做多少事，多用在工地、工廠和專案計畫。例如一項工作要四十人時，可能是一個人做四十小時，也可能是四個人各做十小時，數字說的是工作量，而不是某一個人的一天。現在許多職場改說 person-hour，意思相同，只是不會讓人以為只有男性在工作。它是規劃用語，跟說上班時數的「工時」不一樣：工時指的是上班的時間長短，人時指的是工作量。
