Magnificence is the quality of being magnificent: very beautiful, grand, and impressive. People use it for palaces, ceremonies, mountains, night skies, and sometimes a great performance. It is a noun — the splendour itself, not the describing word. It sounds a little formal. In everyday talk many people just say “It was magnificent” and never use this noun at all. Though actually, in writing about art, buildings, or royal display, magnificence still feels right, because you are naming the , not only pointing at it. It has nothing to do with magic.
