Macramé is the craft of tying string or cord into patterns — knots that become plant , wall hangings, bags, or fringes. No needles: just knots, often in cotton or . Though actually, people were tying decorative knots long before English had this name; English only borrowed it when the fashion arrived. It had a big hobby moment in the 1970s and came back with indoor plants. Informal craft talk. In English the last part usually sounds like “may.”
