A lunchbox is a box you put food in and carry to school or work. In British English you will also see lunch box as two words; it is the same thing. Children use it more than adults, though office workers carry them too. The food inside is the lunch; the box is just the container — plastic, metal, or a bag that still gets called a lunchbox. Though actually, in some places, especially Britain and Australia, older speakers sometimes use lunchbox as a rude joke about a man's body. That is slang, not the school meaning, and you do not need it; I mention it only so a laugh in class does not puzzle you. The word is informal and .
