The LSE is the London School of Economics — officially the London School of Economics and Political Science, though almost nobody says the long name. It is a famous university in central London, known for economics, politics, law, and other social sciences, with students from all over the world. In Taiwan it is a “dream school” name, in the same mental drawer as Oxford or Cambridge, though it is a different place with a different flavour: more city, more social science, less old-college postcard. People say each letter, L-S-E. Though actually, those letters can also mean the London Stock Exchange, where shares are bought and sold; in a student conversation it is almost always the school, but a business page may mean the market.
