    Lowlights are a darker colour put into some of your hair so that parts of it look deeper, not lighter. A does not usually change the whole head; they pick out pieces, the way they do with highlights — only this time the colour goes darker, not paler. It is a salon and magazine word, everyday rather than formal. People sometimes play with it as a joke for the sad bits of a year, because highlights can also mean the best moments; the hair meaning is the one on a bottle or a price list.
