    A lost-and-found is a place — a desk, a room, or even a box — where staff keep things people have left behind, until the owner comes to claim them. Schools, stations, museums, and pools often have one. American English likes “lost and found” or “lost-and-found.” In Britain people often say “lost property” for the same office, though they will still understand lost-and-found. You can talk about the lost-and-found as the place itself.

    這個詞指的是失物招領處，可以是一張櫃台、一個房間，甚至只是一個箱子。工作人員把人們遺留的東西放在那裡，等失主來認領。學校、車站、博物館和游泳池常常設有這樣的地方。

    要指那個地方本身時，可以說 「the lost-and-found」。英式英語常用 「lost property」 來指同一個辦公室，不過美式與英式的人都聽得懂這個說法。
