Lord's is a cricket ground in northwest London, in St John's Wood. It is the most famous cricket ground in Britain: big, important matches are played there, and it is the headquarters of the MCC, the club that looks after the laws of the game. People say "a match at Lord's" the way football people say "at Wembley" — the place-name stands for the whole occasion. It is a proper name. You keep the apostrophe: Lord's, not Lords. That mark is there because the ground was named after Thomas Lord, who founded it. It is not "the Lord" (God), and it is not the House of Lords (the upper house of the UK parliament).
