Something — often a code, tool, or device — that helps you find or identify exactly where something is. A flight or hotel 'booking locator' is a code you use to find your reservation; a 'GPS locator' is a device that shows where something or someone is; a 'store locator' is a tool on a website for finding the nearest shop.
組成locate ("find the position of something") + -or (a suffix for "a thing that does the action," as in "actor" or "elevator").
