A liquitab is a small soft bag, like a tiny cushion, filled with liquid washing soap. You toss one into the washing machine with the dirty clothes; you do not pour from a bottle. The name is simply liquid + tab (a small tablet-shaped dose). It began as a trademark in the United States in 1966, though people now use it as an ordinary word for that kind of pod. Though actually, many families just say laundry pod or capsule, and some packs are two or three little rooms of liquid stuck together, not one bag. It is a household word, a bit branded, not formal. Keep them away from small children: they can look like sweets, and the liquid inside is not for eating.
