1. 1

Limpopo is a river in southern Africa. It starts in South Africa, runs along the map beside and Zimbabwe, then flows through and out into the Indian Ocean. English classrooms often meet the name in an old children’s story by Kipling, who called it the great grey-green, greasy Limpopo River — that line is how many first hear it. South Africa also has a province called Limpopo; the province was named after the river, not the other way around. It is a place name, so it takes a capital letter.
