Lights-out is the time at night, in a school dormitory, the army, a camp, a prison, or a similar group, when everyone must put the lights out and go to sleep. It is a rule on the clock, not a note that the room is already dark. A teacher or sergeant may just shout “Lights out!” Families at home more often say bedtime. People stretch it in sport and stories: “lights out” can mean the other side is finished, as if someone switched them off — though actually the core meaning is still that official hour when the lamps must go off.
lights-out 指宿舍、軍營、營地或監獄等團體裡，夜間規定所有人熄燈睡覺的時刻。它是時間上的規定，不是指房間已經暗了。老師或士官可能會大喊「Lights out!」，在家裡則較常說 bedtime。在運動與故事中，它也能指對方已經被擊敗，像被人關掉電源一樣，但核心仍是那個規定的熄燈時刻。
