Lexington, here, is a city in north-central Kentucky, in the United States. People know it for two things that sit on the same land: the University of Kentucky, and horses. It is in country, and many thoroughbreds — the fast horses bred for racing — are raised around there. Say Lexington in a racing or university context and this is usually the place you mean. Though actually, the name is older than Kentucky. It comes from an English village in once called Lexington and now called Laxton. Lexington, Massachusetts was the first American town to take the name (and is famous for the first fighting of the American Revolutionary War). The Kentucky city was named in that same tradition. There are other Lexingtons in the US; this entry is the Kentucky one. It is a place name, always capital L, not a common noun.
組成From Lexington, an older form of Laxton, a village in Nottinghamshire, England. Lexington, Massachusetts was the first US town of that name; Kentucky’s city follows that naming. The English title Baron Lexinton refers to the same Nottinghamshire place.
