Leica is a brand of high-quality camera made by the Leica company, which also makes microscopes and other photographic tools. In ordinary English, “a Leica” means the camera. Photographers, especially people who love quiet street pictures and old-style film, speak of a Leica the way some people speak of a fine watch: small, strong, and meant to last. It is a proper name, so it takes a capital letter. The cameras are expensive; people buy them because they last and because the name itself carries a kind of pride. You do not use Leica for any random camera — only this make.
