    Leftward means on the left, or moving toward the left. It can be a real direction in space — a leftward glance, a leftward turn in the road — or, in , a move toward left-wing ideas (the party shifted leftward). It is a little more formal or written than to the left, which is what most people say in speech. British English also has leftwards, with an extra s, used in the same way, especially as an adverb. Both are correct. Though actually, leftover is a different word entirely: that is food or things still there after the rest is gone.
