LCD is the part of a watch, a calculator, a small clock, or a small computer where numbers or letters are shown. Inside, a special liquid sits between layers of glass. When an electric current passes through it, parts of the liquid change, so dark numbers or letters appear. The letters stand for liquid crystal display. For years this was also the thin, flat kind of television or computer screen that replaced the old fat glass tubes, and shops still print LCD on boxes. Though actually, people now often just say “screen,” and newer phones may use a different kind of screen — you will see LED on some boxes.
