A landslide is when a big piece of a hill or mountain — rock, earth, mud — suddenly breaks off and slides down, often after heavy rain. It can be very dangerous because it happens fast and can bury roads or houses. People also use this word for elections: if one person wins by a huge, easy margin, we say they won "in a landslide" or "by a landslide."
