In Britain, especially from the 1990s on, a lad was not just any boy. He was a young man who liked being with other young men, drinking, football, jokes about sex, loud music, and not being too “soft.” If a young man is laddish, he acts that way. Newspapers talked about laddish behaviour a lot. It can sound matey and fun. It can also mean crude, show-off, and a bit careless toward women. It is British, and a little dated now, though people still use it. It does not mean childish, and it does not mean “like a little boy.”
