    Krill are tiny animals that live in the sea in huge clouds, especially in cold water. They look like very small shrimp. Whales, seals, and many fish eat them; a blue whale can swallow of krill in a day. People call them in everyday talk because of their hard covering, but they are not the shrimp you order in a restaurant. Though actually, boats also catch krill for animal feed and for krill oil, which shops sell as a health product. The word came into English from Norwegian, where it first meant the young of fish.
