More than one knife. A knife is a tool with a sharp edge and a handle, used for cutting things such as food, or for eating with at the table.
knives 就是 knife 的複數，指「兩把以上的刀子」——廚房裡切菜的刀、餐桌上放在盤子旁邊的餐刀都算。要注意拼法：knife 變複數時，f 要改成 v 再加 es，寫成 knives，不是 knifes；發音也跟著變，knife 是 /naɪf/，knives 是 /naɪvz/，最後是 z 的音。這個 f→ves 的變化可以想成一個小家族：life→lives、wife→wives、leaf→leaves、half→halves，記一個就等於記了一串（不過 roof→roofs 這種例外也有，所以它是好用的規律，不是鐵則）。
