A knick-knack is a small object you put out to look pretty, not to use: a china cat, a souvenir globe, a tiny vase. The word is — cute or clutter, not fine art. You often find them in a row on a shelf. Also spelled knickknack. Informal and friendly. Though actually it does not mean a clever skill; that is knack on its own. This one is the little decorative thing.
