Kilimanjaro is a mountain in Tanzania, in East Africa. It is the highest mountain in Africa. It stands almost alone, not in a long chain, and it is an old volcano that is quiet now. The top is so high that it has ice and snow, even though the mountain sits near the hot middle belt of the earth — a fact that surprises students, and that writers have used for a hundred years. People come from all over the world to climb it. Though actually, Kilimanjaro is not one sharp tooth: it is a mass with more than one peak, and the famous snowy one is Kibo.
