Kidnapped, with a capital K, is a book, not only the past form of kidnap. In 1886 Robert Louis Stevenson wrote this adventure story. A young man called David Balfour is taken away by force — kidnapped — but he escapes. He meets a man called Alan Breck. Together they see a man being killed, and other people think David and Alan did it, so they run. They travel across the Highlands, the wild high country of Scotland. It is a story of danger, friendship, and running from the law. When you see the title, people mean this novel. The same spelling with a small k is just the ordinary verb: he was kidnapped yesterday.
