The kiblah is the direction a Muslim faces when they pray — towards the , the holy building in . It is not simply “east” or “west”; it depends where you are standing on the earth. From Taiwan, that direction is roughly west. A mosque has a mark on the wall so everyone in the room faces the same way. Though actually, in most English books now you will see the spelling qibla; kiblah is an older form of the same word.
