Kibble is dry food for dogs or cats, pressed into small hard bits that you pour from a bag into a bowl. People say kibble when they want to tell it apart from wet food in a tin. It is everyday American English; in Britain people often just say dry food. You do not use kibble for food that people eat. Though actually there is an old verb to kibble, meaning to crush something into bits, but that is not the meaning on a pet-food bag.

組成Unknown. The verb shows up in Shropshire around 1790; it may be a variant of chip, or it may come from another old sense of kibble. The pet-food noun came later, from the idea of food in small bits.
