A keyword is a word you type into a computer so it will search for that word — on the internet, in a shop’s search box, or inside a file. If you type “night market ”, those are your keywords, and the computer tries to find pages that match them.
A keyword關鍵字 is a word you type into a computer是你打進電腦裡的字 so it will search for that word讓它去搜尋那個字 — on the internet在網路上, in a shop's search box在店家的搜尋欄裡, or inside a file或是在檔案裡。If you type "night market Taipei"如果你打「night market Taipei」, those are your keywords那些就是你的關鍵字, and the computer tries to find pages that match them電腦就會試著找出符合的頁面。
Students, , and anyone looking things up use this word every day; it is normal English now, not only for experts. People stretch it, too: a short phrase often counts as a “keyword,” not only a single word.
Students, shoppers, and anyone looking things up學生、買東西的人,還有任何在查資料的人 use this word every day每天都在用這個字; it is normal English now現在是很普通的英文, not only for experts不是只有專家才用。People stretch it, too大家也會把它用得更寬鬆: a short phrase一小段短語 often counts as a "keyword,"也常被算成「keyword」, not only a single word不是只有單一個字才算。
Though actually, the idea is older than Google. A keyword was already “the important word that tells you what a text is about,” and teachers still use it that way in class.
Though actually不過其實, the idea is older than Google這個概念比Google還要老。A keyword was alreadykeyword原本就是 "the important word that tells you what a text is about,"「告訴你一篇文章在講什麼的重要字」, and teachers still use it that way in class老師在課堂上到現在還是這樣用。
(In computer code, keyword can also mean a special reserved word like if; that is a different job for the same label, and not the sense you need first.)
In computer code在程式碼裡, keyword can also mean a special reserved word like ifkeyword也可以指像if這種特殊的保留字; that is a different job for the same label這是同一個字的另一種用法, and not the sense you need first不是你最先需要知道的意思。
組成From key (important; the one that opens the way) + word.
