A keyhole is the little hole in a lock where you slide the key in. That is the plain, everyday meaning. People stretch it: to look through the keyhole is to peep, which sounds nosy. Doctors talk about keyhole surgery, where they operate through a tiny cut, as small as a keyhole, instead of opening a large wound — the hole in the lock is still the first picture the word gives you. You put a key in a keyhole; you do not put it in a lock-hole, even though that would be a tidy name.
