Kelvin is a way of measuring how hot or cold something is, used mainly in science. On this scale, water freezes at 273.15 K and boils at 373.15 K. The steps are the same size as steps; the difference is where zero sits. Zero kelvin is absolute zero — as cold as matter can get, where particles have as little heat energy as physics allows. Room temperature is about 293 K. You do not use Kelvin to talk about the weather or a fever; that would sound odd. , chemists, and people who study space use it because it starts from a true bottom, not from the freezing point of water. In careful modern writing the unit is just kelvin, with the capital-letter symbol K, and we do not put a degree mark in front of it — though actually many people still say 'degrees Kelvin' from old habit.
組成The temperature unit is named after the Irish-born Scottish physicist William Thomson, who became Lord Kelvin. His title comes from the River Kelvin in Scotland. The river name is probably from Scottish Gaelic, perhaps caol ('narrow') or coille ('wooded') plus abhainn ('river'). The surname may also have been pulled toward Calvert, an older English name; that is only a possible extra influence, not the main story.
