Kaolin is a fine white clay. In this sense it is the kind used in medicine: a smooth powder that can go into a liquid or a tablet to calm the stomach, especially when someone has . It does not “cure” in a dramatic way; it is more like a gentle, old-fashioned that coats and binds. Though actually, the same clay is famous for something else entirely. Potters use it to make fine white china, and factories use it in paper. So a doctor and a porcelain maker can both be talking about kaolin and still mean this pale earth. In a pharmacy label you may see it listed with other stomach medicines. It feels technical, not : you meet it in science, craft, and medicine more than in everyday talk.
組成From French kaolin, an old spelling of the Mandarin name of 高嶺土 — “Gaoling earth.” 高嶺 (Gāolǐng, “High Ridge”) is a village in Jiangxi, China, that was a main source of this clay.
