Kanchenjunga is one of the highest mountains on Earth. It stands on the border between India and Nepal, in the Himalaya. It is the third-highest mountain in the world, after and K2 — though actually, people who live near it do not treat it as a number on a list. Many see it as a holy mountain, and have sometimes stopped short of the very top out of respect. It is a huge wall of snow and rock on that India–Nepal edge of the range, not the same peak as (which sits further west, on the Nepal–China side). You will also see the spelling Kangchenjunga. Both names point to the same mountain.

組成The name probably comes from a Tibetan (or close Himalayan) phrase meaning something like “five treasures of the great snow.”
