If an action, a feeling, or a decision is justifiable, you can give good reasons for it — reasons other people might accept, even if they do not like what you did. It does not mean “this was kind” or “this was wise.” It means “this can be defended.” A justifiable anger is anger that makes sense given what happened. A justifiable cost is a cost you can explain. Though actually, people argue about this word all the time: what feels justifiable to you may not feel justifiable to someone else. It is a rather careful, formal word; in speech people often say “fair enough” or “you can see why.”
