    Jingoistic is the adjective for that same loud, war-hungry love of country. It describes talk, people, or policies that show jingoism: proud in a noisy way, quick to want a fight, and sure that “we” are better than “them”. A jingoistic headline cheers for war. A jingoistic politician treats peace as weakness. Like jingoism, it is almost always a complaint, not a badge you wear happily. If you call someone’s words patriotic, you might be praising them; if you call them jingoistic, you are criticising. It is a rather formal opinion word; you will read it more than you will hear it from a child.
