    Italicized is what we say after the job is done: the word has already been put in . You will hear it as a verb in the past (“She italicized the title”) and, very often, as a describing word in front of a noun (“italicized titles,” “the italicized word”). An italicized word leans to the right on the page. In careful writing, an italicized title usually means a whole book or film, not a short poem or article. If a student says a sentence is “italicized,” they usually mean some of the words are in , not that the whole page leans.
