Irreverently describes the way someone speaks or acts when they do not show the usual respect for organisations, customs, beliefs, and so on. He talked irreverently about the old ceremony. The magazine wrote irreverently about famous people. As with irreverent, English speakers often use it without pure anger — it can sound lively, cheeky, even refreshing. It can also sound shocking, depending on who is listening. Put it with a verb.
