Someone who works for a large company and whose job is to grow new ideas, new products, or new ways of doing business for that company. The company is still the boss; this person is not leaving to start a shop of their own. People built the word from entrepreneur. An entrepreneur starts a company. An intrapreneur tries to do that same kind of new-business thinking, but from inside a company that already exists. You meet it in business news, job ads, and talks about how big firms stay alive. It still sounds like workplace language, not a kitchen-table word. Some firms really give people this job. Others just use the word when they want staff to feel proud of bringing new ideas. Though actually, not every 'ideas person' at work is an intrapreneur — the word is for someone whose work is to build something new as if it were a small business inside the big one.
