Intangible describes something that you cannot touch or hold with your hands, but that is still real and can be very important. Trust, a good reputation, happiness, and knowledge are all intangible — you cannot pick them up, but they clearly exist and have value. It is often used in business to talk about things a company owns that are not physical objects, like its brand name.
