When you do something insouciantly, you do it with a light, cheerful kind of not-caring. You are not worried, and you do not look worried. The feeling is closer to a shrug with a smile than to being cold or rude. It is a rather , slightly stylish adverb — novels and careful writing use it more than the school corridor.
