Insistence is when you push for something and will not take no. You keep saying it must happen, and you do not drop it. “At her insistence” often means nobody else was keen, but she would not let it go — so the word can sound stubborn, even . Though actually, it is not always a complaint: a doctor’s insistence that you rest can be care. The verb is insist; this is the noun. You insist on something, and we talk about your insistence on it, or your insistence that something is true. It is a neutral-to-formal word, at home in news, school, and careful talk.
