    Insecticidal is the describing word for something that kills insects. An insecticidal spray, powder, or soap is made to kill bugs — on plants, in a house, or on a farm. The chemical itself is usually called an ; insecticidal tells you what kind of thing you are looking at. Though actually, labels and everyday talk sometimes treat the two as the same word, as if insecticidal were the name of the bottle. In careful English it is not. You meet it in gardening, farming, and science, not in ordinary chat. on an ant is not “insecticidal.” The word is about a substance (or a property) whose job is to kill insects.
