If a wanting is insatiable, it never says enough. You keep wanting more, even after you have already had a lot. It can be food, but though actually that is only one use — people talk about an insatiable curiosity, an insatiable appetite for power, or an insatiable need for attention. The word is a little formal, more at home in books and newspapers than in chat, but it is not rare. It can sound almost like praise when it is about learning, and quite dark when it is about money or power. It does not mean you are a little greedy today; it means the wanting does not fill up.
