If two or more things are inextricable, you cannot pull them apart: they are so mixed, or so tied together, that each one changes the other. Writers often say an inextricable link or an inextricable connection — a family's money trouble and their health trouble may be inextricable, because each makes the other worse. Though actually, the older picture is a knot you cannot undo, or a place you cannot get out of; that is why people also talk about an inextricable mess or inextricable difficulties. It is a formal word. You will meet it in news, essays, and serious talk, not on the playground.
