Something inexplicable cannot be explained. You can look at it from every side and still have no reason that makes sense. People use it for strange events, sudden feelings, or behaviour that does not fit the person. It is a formal word. “I don’t get it” is the everyday version; inexplicable is the written, serious one. Though actually, people sometimes call a thing inexplicable when they simply do not like it and do not want to look for a reason. That is looser than the tidy sense. It is about why something happened, not about how strong a feeling is.

組成in- (not) + explicable. From Latin inexplicabilis. Explicable means “able to be explained,” so inexplicable is the opposite.
